Getting Lost: Photo Excursion

2 Apr

Since I have had a little more free time lately, I have been able to explore parts of the city I haven’t seen in the first 7 months. One of the ways to do this is just to catch a bus, not sure where its going, and find your way back. Getting lost on purpose. Today, I walked to the bus stop with just my camera and set a goal of taking 200 photos. I hopped on the first bus that passed me and it turned out it was going to Eyup at the northern end of the Golden Horn. I started at that last bus stop on the route and walked home along the Golden Horn. Since I had no idea where I was going, I really don’t know the names of the places I ended up, but here is what turned out of those 200 photos I took.

Only a block from where I got off the bus in Eyup there is a beautiful square complete with cafes, shops, a mosque and a fountain. Today, there was a traditional Ottoman band playing in the square as well.

A deserted children's amusement park on the Golden Horn in Feshane seemed like a good place to go take some photos. The sign reads Feshane World Children's Fun Park.

No explanation could be found for this creepy cephalopod. The Golden Horn in the background.
